Terms of Service

Welcome to Parlaviva. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Parlaviva web app and website (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use the Service.

The service

Parlaviva is an AI-powered tool for practising spoken Italian. It provides conversational practice, corrections, and progress tracking. Parlaviva is a learning aid — it is not a certified language qualification, and its AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate. Use your own judgment, especially for anything important.

Your account

You sign in using an email magic link or Google sign-in. You are responsible for the security of the email account or Google account you use to access Parlaviva, and for activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and be old enough to use the Service in your country.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its providers.
• Abuse, scrape, or place excessive automated load on the Service.
• Submit content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes others’ rights.

Content and intellectual property

Parlaviva and its branding, design, and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. You retain ownership of the content you submit (for example, what you say or type during practice). You grant us a limited licence to process that content solely to provide and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Subscriptions, billing, and trials

Parlaviva offers a free plan and paid subscription plans (currently “Parlaviva” and “Fluente”), billed monthly or annually through our payment processor, Stripe. Prices are shown before you subscribe.

Free trial. For new accounts, annual plans begin with a 30-day free trial — one per customer, available when subscribing shortly after creating your account. A payment method is collected when you start the trial, and the first annual charge occurs automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. Monthly plans do not include a trial: they are charged immediately and renew each month with no commitment. Upgrades from the free plan outside the new-account window are likewise charged immediately and receive the full monthly allowance right away.

Renewal.Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly or annually on your billing date — until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal (Profile → Plan & usage → Manage subscription). Cancelling stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.

Refunds. Charges are generally non-refundable, but if something went wrong — a mistaken charge, a billing error, or the Service failed you — email support@parlaviva.com and a human will make it right.

Price changes. If prices change, existing subscribers are notified in advance and any founding-member price locks are honoured.

Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers (including Supabase, Google, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Stripe, and Vercel) to function. Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers’ terms where applicable.

Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. While Parlaviva is in active development, features may change and occasional downtime may occur. We may also update these Terms; continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated language content will be accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Parlaviva and its providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy for deletion). Deleting your account also cancels any active subscription. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms.
